Sonic introduced mega fast side scrolling, looping, sliding and jumping platform action. The game is famous because of this unique gameplay. And SEGA has turned the concept inside out for maximum profit ofcourse, resulting in many spinoffs, merchandise and what not. But Sonic ;#39;The Hedgehog;#39; is the game it started with. Not so much of a classic for those who think of retro as in eighties games, but still, this is a historical title.

Open Sonic (which this is), is a GREAT version of Sonic for Windows PC. It;#39;s free for download, so what are you waiting for? Get this SEGA retro classic and start collecting those rings!

Konami;#39;s Pooyan was actually not developed by Konami itself, which happened more back then. However, the game concept is real Konami material as it is simply brilliant. You may remember having played this games hours and hours on the arcade or maybe you were lucky enough to have enjoyed this retro game on your 8bit computer.

Contra, a.k.a. Gryzor in Europe, is a well known side scrolling shooter by Konami. It has much similarities with an earlier Konami title: Green Beret. However Contra has been much more succesful and sequels of it have released on 16bit platforms as well.

In this fan remake you are able to play three levels of Contra. Its gameplay is about the same as the 16bit versions, just like the music and graphics. It;#39;s not the 8bit remake, so if you;#39;r looking for the MSX or ZX Spectrum version, you may want to look further. However this game is an excellent free remake for Windows PC. Ah, the good old Venture from the *vision machines. If you owned one, you;#39;ll know this game. Just like the original, you;#39;ll have to fight your way through the dungeons to find treasurs. This remake has the same retro style graphics and it adds to the classic gameplay!

Scorpion,;nbsp; the remaker, has added new levels, enemies and more difficulty to this Windows PC remake of Venture. It;#39;s fair enough considering, you;#39;re almost 30 years older since you;#39;ve last played it on your *vision machine! :)

Dig Dug

Dig Dug is one of those games that is so simple in its game idea, it has become brilliant. And that has been proven by the fact that it is still popular today, about 20 years after its release on the Arcade.

Namco has released this game back in 1982 and it has now been remade for Windows PC. This version is graphically much more advanced, but the gameplay is as simple and brilliant as the original.

This is a classic game you may not miss out on. Download this retro remake for your PC and enjoy the nostalgia of it!

Giddy is a game based on Dizzy. Giddy was originally released for Commordore Amiga but has been remade for Windows PC;#39;s as well. The game plays like any Dizzy platformer and is very enjoyable. Ruff ;#39;n;#39; Tumble is one of those classic Amiga platform games. Amiga had so many and the computer was so perfect for it! Ruff ;#39;n;#39; Tumble is yet another great side scrolling platform shooter. And this one is Amiga only... well until Ironclaw made this remake for Windows PC;#39;s ofcourse.

Maze of Galious

The Maze of Galious is one of Konami;#39;s biggest hits on the MSX. It;#39;s actually an MSX1 game, but the gameplay is so good that doesn;#39;t matter at all! Maze of Galious is a platform, puzzle action game in which you will have to collect many items, kill several end bosses and even switch characters to finish the game.

While this game is well known amongst MSX fans, it is less known to others. So this is your chance to meet with this retro classic. BrainGames has remade this game incredibly well. The gameplay, the music and the graphics are just excellent. And you even have the possiblity to change to 4 different graphics sets.

X-It is a Soko-Ban style game by Psygnosis, the famous Amiga publisher. This remake of the 1994 retro game offers the same strategy puzzle gameplay and even the graphics are looking much like the original. Ofcourse this means more retro feelling and nostalgic fun.
